26 Sep Make things work for you rather than against you
I shared a quote today, “Sometimes, when I face a challenge, I like to ask myself, ‘How can I make this work for me, rather than against me?’”. I felt inspired after researching what fields I can pursue with my English degree. After graduating from college, I felt insecure and regretful about the degree I had earned. Despite having a great experience and feeling confident about my skills, I was still unhappy because I wasn’t getting hired by companies, which made me feel even worse. It took a while to get out of that funk because I also had fears of becoming a writer who struggled to make money.
Despite knowing that reading and writing are fundamental, they are often undervalued. This can be seen in various industries, but I refuse to let that discourage me, because I love the peace that comes from it, and I adore stories. The world needs stories to see the beauty of life and to feel understood and heard about experiences.
After conducting research, I am confident that my degree is invaluable and diverse. So, I chose to be a writer, but if I want to, I can also be a screenplay writer, a lawyer, a Museum writer, and more. So, before you quit, try to make your challenges work for you rather than against you. And if you’ve had enough of your challenges, then respect your decisions and follow the path ahead on your journey. But if your mind and heart still yearn for the experiences you want from the path you choose, hold on and open your own doors. In other words, create your own opportunities. You will be heard, seen, valued, respected, and significantly compensated for your perseverance and gifts.
